FILIPINA--International Women's Peace Group (IWPG, Ketua Hyun Sook Yoon) mengumumkan bahwa mereka mendirikan “Monumen Perdamaian IWPG” pertama sejak dimulainya kegiatan perdamaiannya di Mindanao de Oro, Filipina, sebuah pencapaian yang sangat berarti.
Monumen Perdamaian IWPG didirikan untuk mewarisi semangat perdamaian Mindanao, di mana perang telah diakhiri dan perdamaian telah dicapai melalui “Perjanjian Perdamaian Sipil.” Kesepakatan ini dimediasi oleh Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), sebuah organisasi perdamaian internasional, pada tanggal 1 Januari 2014.
Pembangunan Monumen Perdamaian ini dipimpin oleh Sholai Lim, seorang Duta Publisitas IWPG, dan diharapkan untuk berkontribusi menyebarkan nilai perdamaian kepada perempuan Filipina lainnya.
Dari tanggal 4. sampai 8 September 2022, delegasi perdamaian IWPG melakukan perjalanan perdamaian ke Filipina selama 5 hari, meliputi kota Manila dan Davao dan provinsi Mindanao de Oro. Kunjungan mereka menarik banyak perhatian dari penduduk dan perempuan Filipina.
Pada tanggal 5 September, IWPG tampil live di PTV, siaran nasional, dan memperkenalkan berbagai kegiatan perdamaian IWPG di Filipina, termasuk International Loving-Peace Art Competition, kompetisi seni untuk anak-anak dan remaja, dan Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE). Mereka secara khusus menekankan bahwa pemerintah Filipina harus mendukung Deklarasi Perdamaian dan Penghentian Perang (Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War/ DPCW).
Pada tanggal 6 September, IWPG menghadiri upacara pembukaan Monumen Perdamaian IWPG pertama yang didirikan di Resor Pegunungan Dataran Tinggi Ayuste di provinsi Mindanao Davao de Oro. Lokasi tersebut menjadi lebih bermakna karena tempat peristirahatan tersebut merupakan tempat wisata yang telah beralih dari tempat yang dulunya penuh dengan perang dan teror, di mana para prajurit akan selalu tinggal dan menyimpan senjata mereka, menjadi sebuah negeri yang damai tanpa perang.
Dalam sambutannya, Sholai Lim, Wakil Ketua Federasi Dewan Perempuan Lokal Filipina dan Duta Publisitas IWPG, mengatakan, “Kami akan merayakan penyebaran perdamaian di wilayah ini dan di seluruh bangsa melalui pendirian Monumen Perdamaian IWPG. ”Ketua IWPG Hyun Sook Yoon mengatakan, “Kami telah mendirikan monumen perdamaian di sini, sementara perang sedang berlangsung di sisi lain dunia. Saya yakin gerakan perdamaian ini akan menjadi pengaruh positif dan menyebar ke seluruh dunia.”
Pada konferensi pers yang juga berlangsung di hari yang sama, IWPG sempat menjawab berbagai pertanyaan terkait pendirian Peace Monument pertama dan mengapa IWPG memilih Filipina sebagai destinasi Peace Tour pertama mereka sejak pandemi COVID-19.
Setelah konferensi pers adalah preview dari “Great Legacy,” sebuah film dokumenter tentang kegiatan perdamaian Ketua Man Hee Lee dari HWPL yang juga membawa perdamaian ke Mindanao. Banyak orang Filipina dan pers hadir dan menunjukkan antusiasme dan dukungan mereka.
Dalam Peace Tour kali ini, IWPG tidak hanya bertemu dengan Sholai Lim, tetapi juga Publicity Ambassadors Erlinda Olivia Tiu dan Elaine Lantud, Branch Manager IWPG Filipina Quezon City Virginia Manuel, Branch Manager Davao del Norte Maria Theresa Timbol, dan Branch Manager Maguindanao Bai Jennah Lumawan dan berbagi berbagai ide dan pengalaman tentang kegiatan perdamaian.
IWPG juga bertemu dengan beberapa pemimpin perempuan Filipina termasuk Myrna Yao, Ketua Federasi Dewan Perempuan Lokal Filipina; Ruby Victorino, Ketua Zonta Club Metropolitan Pasig; dan Alma Uy, Ketua Federasi Perempuan di Kota Tagum, dan berjanji akan melanjutkan kerjasama untuk mencapai perdamaian yang berkelanjutan.
Pada hari terakhir, 7 September, IWPG berkesempatan memperkenalkan IWPG dan DPCW di DPR. IWPG mendesak anggota parlemen untuk memperkenalkan resolusi ke DPR yang mendukung DPCW dan mendukung DPCW di tingkat nasional. IWPG juga bertemu dengan Perwakilan Maria Carmen Zamora (Davao de Oro) dan Julienne Baronda (Iloilo) secara individu dan mendesak adanya resolusi yang mendukung DPCW. IWPG juga meminta dukungan untuk DPCW dalam pertemuan dengan Gubernur Davao de Oro, Dorothy Gonzaga, dan Wakil Gubernur, Jamie Tyrone Yooi.

IWPG Reaps Meaningful Fruits through its Peace Tour to the Philippines-Establishes the 1st IWPG Peace Monument in Mindanao de Oro

The International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG, Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon) announced that it established the first “IWPG Peace Monument” since the start of its peace activities in Mindanao de Oro, Philippines, a truly meaningful achievement.
The IWPG Peace Monument was established to inherit Mindanao’s peace spirit, where war has been put to and end and peace has been achieved through the “Civil Peace Agreement.” This agreement was mediated by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), an international peace organization, on January 1, 2014
The construction of this Peace Monument was led by Sholai Lim, an IWPG Publicity Ambassador, and it is expected to contribute to spreading the value of peace to other Filipino women.
From September 4th to 8th, the IWPG peace delegation went on a peace tour to the Philippines for 5 days, covering the city of Manila and Davao and the province of Mindanao de Oro. Their visit attracted much attention from the Philippine residents and women.
On September 5th, IWPG appeared live on PTV, a national broadcast, and introduced various IWPG peace activities in the Philippines, including the International Loving-Peace Art Competition for children and teenagers and the Peace Lecturer Training Education (PLTE). They especially emphasized that the Philippine government should support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW).
On the 6th, IWPG attended the unveiling ceremony of the first IWPG Peace Monument erected in the Ayuste Highland Mountain Resort in the province of Mindanao Davao de Oro. The location was even more meaningful because the resort was a tourist site that had gone from a place once full of war and terror, where soldiers would always reside and store their weapons, to a land of peace without war.
In her greeting remarks, Sholai Lim, Vice Chair of the Philippine Federation of Local Councils of Women and an IWPG Publicity Ambassador, said, “We will celebrate the spread of peace in this region and throughout the nation through the establishment of the IWPG Peace Monument.”
IWPG Chairwoman Hyun Sook Yoon said, “We have erected a monument of peace here, while war is waging on the other side of the globe. I am sure that this peace movement will become a positive influence and spread all around the world.”
At the press conference that also took place on the same day, IWPG had time to answer various questions on the establishment of the first Peace Monument and why IWPG chose Philippines as their first Peace Tour destination since the COVID-19 pandemic.
After the press conference was the preview of the “Great Legacy,” a documentary on the peace activities of Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL who also brought peace to Mindanao. Many Filipino people and press attended and showed their enthusiasm and support.
During this Peace Tour, IWPG met not only with Sholai Lim, but also Publicity Ambassadors Erlinda Olivia Tiu and Elaine Lantud, IWPG Philippines Quezon City Branch Manager Virginia Manuel, Davao del Norte Branch Manager Maria Theresa Timbol, and Maguindanao Branch Manager Bai Jennah Lumawan and shared various ideas and experiences on peace activities.
IWPG also met with multiple Philippine female leaders including Myrna Yao, the Chairwoman of the Philippine Federation of Local Councils of Women; Ruby Victorino, the Chairwoman of Zonta Club of Metropolitan Pasig; and Alma Uy, the Chairwoman of the Women’s Federation in Tagum City, and promised to continue cooperation to achieve sustainable peace.
On the last day, September 7, IWPG had the opportunity to introduce IWPG and DPCW at the House of Representatives. IWPG urged lawmakers to introduce a resolution to the House supporting the DPCW and to support the DPCW on a national level. IWPG also met with Representative Maria Carmen Zamora (Davao de Oro) and Julienne Baronda (Iloilo) individually and urged for a resolution supporting the DPCW. IWPG also requested support for the DPCW during a meeting with Davao de Oro’s Governor, Dorothy Gonzaga, and Vice Governor, Jamie Tyrone Yooi.
IWPG is an international NGO in special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council and registered under the Department of Global Communications and is striving to gather the support of 3.9 billion women around the world to achieve sustainable peace. IWPG is working actively with 105 branches located in 132 countries and 500 partner organizations through peace initiatives including DPCW campaigns and PLTE.
